Not So Sweet

by Debra White

Lucy was a thief.

She’d pinched flowers from her neighbour’s garden, taken her sister’s favourite hair bobble, and she’d just sneaked a candy from her mother’s handbag.

As she tongued the pretty purple sweetie into the hollow of her cheek, she was surprised at it’s sweet, yet strangely soapy flavour.

”Lucy.” her mother called.
”Have you been in my bag?”
”No, Mummy!” she fibbed, crossing her fingers behind her back.

No sooner had she spoken, frothy bubbles formed in her mouth and began to escape from her lips.

Within seconds she was up to her neck  in violet coloured foam.

I think Lucy deserves to be left up to her neck in it...naughty little madam!
