Cowboy poem

The lone cowboy

by judester

The lone cowboy strums
by the fire and sings,
of life in the saddle,
and other such things.

Under the stars
across velvet skies.
Sad ballads of life,
the truths and the lies.

The course he has chosen
since a young boy of nine.
This vagabond life,
seemed to suit him just fine.

He sings of his youth,
his Texas rose wife.
His family, the ranch ~
one's journey through life.

From his grassy camp,
the firelight flickers,
his faithful horse grazes
contented, he snickers.

The old cowboy sighs
from deep in his soul,
kicks off his boots,
lays out his bedroll.

The angels now gather,
drift down and surround.
Raising him gently,
to his wife, heaven bound.
