Never Hate a Tree

I hate you, old balding tree
Why do you insist on torturing me
Tap, tap, tapping on my bedroom
Window constantly
I know your hideous branches are
 Waiting to pounce on me
 
It was hot that night, opened the
window in spite of my fright
Leaned out to catch a breeze
You swung your spindly branch
Slapped my face, not by chance
 
“Damn, you! I hope you get hit by
Lightning or even blown down
 
That night howling winds and thunder
You came crashing through my window
Your ugly branches, sunk into me
Dragging me, pulling me out the window
