Walt Disney World Grand Opening Parade

Working In A New World

by Lance S. Loria

In college I worked part-time.
Needing each and every dime.
Disney World opened to my glee,
The reason why you shall see.
In the grande opening parade,
Fifteen seconds of fame were made.
As a trouper dressed as Prince Charming,
The Tribune photo was alarming.
Frat brothers laughed all night,
My costume in princely tights.

Funny poem about your job writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a humorous poem about your job. It can be any job, but it has to rhyme.

Walt Disney World opened in Orlando in 1971 only 30 miles from where I was in college. I was hired part-time and then recruited to participate in the Grande Opening Parade. I was dressed as Prince Charming and was featured in the only photo published in the Sunday paper (see photo above). I was 20 years old and my fraternity brothers were unmerciful in the taunting over the princely tights. It was all in good fun and I smile to myself whenever I think about it.

Rhyme AA, BB, CC, DD.

Trouper - an entertainer.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
