Once Upon a Thought well preserved in my mind...
And, as a child?
I was fascinated by the
"Insect Kingdom.
Especially those that are protected such as the
"Praying Mantis!

And, her name was Mandy!
And, she so loves the Glen.
And loves to lay out on a wet down log across the old stream dreaming of her eventual man.

She was born here from a family of well over a hundred as all mantises someday.
Someday will hatch in the heat of day.
As the Egg nest is like a cocoon...
Revolving, growing into this and bled normally...
Upon the stem of a milkweed.
...
"It's time I guess?"
As all her brothers and sisters decided to move forward on their way!
But she was looking forward to something more important someday.
...
But the problem became clear...
Crystal clear as the sky darkened as if in a ominous cloud?
And then they came and they came in full force?
Red hornets Hell-bent on destroying anything in their way!
Weather it was dragonflies or mealy fireflies!
...
So, she ponders...
"What shall I do??"
"No mate, no family?"
"Just Got an impending
Fate?"
Thought of Doom?
Lonely Tomb?
...
She figured...
"Way to much for me!"
"Perhaps they won't stay...
"Refresh with a drink...
"And, be on their way?"
...
But the King Drone thought otherwise as he set up camp and planned away.
Starving, the many other Red Hornets were looking for food!
In the form of whatever gets in the way?

The Conclusion of "Praying Mantis!"

Yes Mandi was very scared and frightened!
Just her against literally over a hundred...
Very nasty and Large...
Red Hornets!

She surely could handle one or maybe two but not so many!
And of course did not know what to do?
So she contemplated her death?

"Should I now just throw my body into the water below?" "And drown?"
"Shall I run away and hide on the ground?"
"Or should I pray?"
"Pray that day will come?"
"Another and better day in Heaven above?"
"After they come and eat me alive?"
...
Yes, all these impending thoughts and more came into her head!
As she pondered her impending death and soon to be or not to be...
Dead?
But you see?
God works in mysterious ways even for a Praying Mantis.

As The Cloud of gathering Nasty Red Hornets came near?
There was also another little bunch of insects quite...
Quite near?
Yes!
Literally just inches behind!
Tracking...
And, ever so ready...
To start immediate Attacking!

And yes!
The many, many, of Mandy's passing brothers and sisters would prevail.
