Dancing Poem Contest Entry

The Audience (A Sonnet)

by LyndaS

DANCING Contest Winner

The hall seats filled with patrons for the dance.
Behind the velvet curtain she awaits.
She simply can't succumb or leave to chance
this overwhelming fear her mind creates.

She knows her own performance without flaws.
Her insecurities may cause her doubt.
She longs to hear her gracious, first applause.
The curtains rise, she gracefully leaps out.

But instantly the music calms her woes.
Uncertainties she felt begin to fade.
With elegance her dancing smoothly flows.
Through confidence her talents are displayed.

She frees the thoughts that kept her heart confined.
The audience now furthest from her mind.
