A view of Louisiana

Loss in the sauce

by astyanax

Took more than look
And taste of cordon bleu in my rendezvous
To get hooked and cooked
Hoodooed by Creole in the Bayou
Wondering if its tomayto or tomahto
Potayto or potahto

Like nothing loath under a sky of velvet cloth
This aroma of Louisiana
Had the broth of a man in a pot froth
The okra in the jambalaya
As the swoop and slide of a folk group
Drooped songs in a duck soup

To this Cajun cuisine hot as the sun
Rose the smell of oregano in gumbo
That seasoned the reason
And stirred the Zydeco music to flow
As it fizzled and sizzled
Fo shizzled ma nizzled

This slice of entice
Left me to chew on a scenery eating cashews
While it spiced the rice
Brewed the stew
Mixed pineapple with the noodles
The whole kit and caboodle

The recipe of sunset had this beauty
Of a dish to relish
In an atmosphere savory of red gravy
And a brackish air languished
Over a lake with a gloss across
Me loss in the sauce
