Hang On To Summer

by Gail Denham

Warm summer days are here. No snow or ice yet. I ponder -- how can we keep summer around longer?

Got it. We'll box up sunlight, store boxes in closets near winter duds. When autumn chill arrives, we'll release some sunlight. Then we'll dance barefoot in grasses, ride bikes, wade in creeks, go camping.

When winter dumps snow, we'll empty more boxes, enjoy summer's warmth to the last drop. We'll wear shorts, and inside our winter boots, feet will radiate heat.
