The Chasm

by JLR

In the crevice of disorder, tempers creak,
Abandoned little children, hopelessness spawns.

In the crevice of disorder smiles matter,
Souls of little children are easily shattered.

In the crevice of disorder, evil does seep,
hopelessness, Iike hoarfrost, creeps.

In the crevice of disorder, God's voice is silent,
Seen are little children, voice's being quiet.

In the crevice of disorder, rain falls up,
as little children's aspirations fill no cup
While they spiral down...

As an Irish immigrant in the 1950 with a broken family early life in America was full of leers, jeers, and stares being caught in a welfare system that could have stumped and stunted any child and prevented them from saying flat no...I am going to be different! I am grateful for that humbled beginning in America, because I have had the benefit of living the American dream.
