Desperate times...
Timeout

'Mum, he scratched me!'
'Just because she pushed me first!'
Their long-suffering mother sighed.
'Go to your room,' she said.
Their father kept on reading the paper. He hadn't even noticed the commotion.
Ten minutes went past.
'Mum! He scratched me again.'
'Liar! I'm sitting down minding my own business.'
Their mum sighed again.
'Why do you insist on being together and then fight all the time? Next time I hear a bark or a meow, I'll take you both to the balcony for a timeout. Understood?'
Two sets of imploring eyes looked at her and two little tails moved in the air.

My dog and my cat usually get on very well, but sometimes they fight (or maybe they are just playing?)
