Love as a verb

by Sergeant Floyd

Do you live love as a verb or a noun?
I avow love need be an action word.
Mad, crazy, wild about,
burn down the house and barn for.
Love as a noun just sits and purrs
like a domestic cat on a lap.
Tenderness, warmth, attachment, doting.
Love kills and needs a fiercer symmetry.
The bamboo shadows on the side of a tiger.
The fly in amber, wild clarion call
in the eyes of a timber wolf.
Recant is a verb reserved for the heretical.
True love-
Crazy, mad, nuts
never recants.
