Dolphin mine detector WW11

Dolphin Patrol

by Aussie

Beneath murky waters deep
Japanese mines sway and sleep
Dolphin lay on diver's raft
Whistle signal sends dolphin aft

Over the side dolphin flips
Dolphin in his element trips
Marker float attached to his nose
Click, click, click, off he goes

Dancing in waters deep, he blows
Sonar working, his radar shows
Old metal cars and tins
Still, he shows dolphin grins

Water thick with silt it seems
He needs no eyes, sonar beams
Found those deadly sleeping mines
Plants markers, many times

Inflated buoys bounce in swell
Diver disarms bobbing Hell
Dolphin used his sensitive nose
To place markers where it shows

Buoys bob to surface, to show men
Lives saved, again and again
Dolphins are clever, taught to find
Enemy mines; disabled for mankind
