Livin' the dream

Peppermint Schnapps in My Cocoa

I've got Peppermint Schnapps in my cocoa
and it's topped with a rich frothy cream.
The bright lights of the city behind me
and before me a silver moon beam.

The bold taste of this potion is soothing
as the night birds begin their sweet song.
In your arms I will treasure my blessings
for in you I find strength to be strong.

This libation is like an elixir
we can share at the end of the day.
As the silent stars peek from the heavens,
the old doubts of this world fade away.

Now the love of my life sits beside me
and I feel like I'm living the dream.
I've got Peppermint Schnapps in my cocoa
and it's topped with a rich frothy cream.

Last winter we had dinner with friends followed by a cup of cocoa, a shot of Peppermint Schnapps and a big dollop of whipped cream with a peppermint stick to stir it with. We were enjoying it when I said, "I've got peppermint schnapps in my cocoa". One of our friends said, "that sound like the beginning of a poem". Well here we are in the hot Spring weather. We are in the middle of selling our house and buying another. I'm so busy I don't know which way is up and yet I can't get that phrase out of my head. So this is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy.
