Cha-ca-laca, cha-ca-laca  sis boom bah
Who are the loudest birds?  We are!
 
They chorus together, the “girls” and the “boys”
 And make the most irritating, horrible noise.
 
Another weird thing, besides their sound—
Sometimes they like to eat upside down!
 
The cha-cha-laca chorus arrives with the sun
Like “broken machinery trying to run.”
 
South Texans hunt them for their “sup”
Or maybe it’s just to shut them up.
