75 Word Flash Contest
Heartfelt
by Chip Kuzborski
The donor was a poet, Julie learned shortly after the operation. For confidentiality, she was not given additional information. Once stable enough to sit up, she used her iPad to search for recently deceased writers but found nothing.
"If I could read just one of her poems."
That afternoon, Julie's husband Andrew returned to her room with a stethoscope and placed it over her new heart.
"Listen. Perfect rhythm, perfect rhyme. Written just for you."
