An Irregular Ode for the Potlatch Challenge

Yesterday

by June Sargent

Sweet memories of yesteryear
stored deep within my heart and mind
will surface every now and then
when overwhelmed with doubt and fear
I yearn for days of a gentler kind
with opportunities still open

I miss the store where we could shop
for paper kites that we could fly
along the beach from morn til night
with Cracker Jack and soda pop
And when I close my eyes real tight
I feel the breeze that blows away
my troubles up into the sky
like bubbles on a summer day
