Cascade of Pearls

by June Sargent

It all begins as just a seed
that grows in time into a bead.
With layers of tender loving care,
each seed becomes a treasure rare
that's stored away in a hope chest,
like lustrous pearls we keep for best.

True love will never lose its shine.
It grows in value like fine wine.
As loving kindness covers all,
offenses we will not recall.
Good memories outweigh the rest
like lustrous pearls we keep for best

And when the time does come to leave,
to life and love we wish to cleave.
As death is darkening our door,
just hold me in your arms once more,
reliving moments that were blessed
like lustrous pearls we keep for best.
