Pecos Bill and Widow Maker

by pome lover

Pecos Bill, of Disney lore,
Was like no cowboy seen before.
Roy Rogers, of yester-year,
With the Sons of the Pioneers,

Told how baby Bill fell out
Of a covered wagon, without a shout.
Coyotes raised him, wild of course,
And that is how Bill met his horse.

Widow Maker was his name:
From "those who tried to ride him" fame.
Bill and horse became a team--
A lasting friendship it would seem--

Until a gal named Slue Foot Sue,
Won Bill's heart, and caused him to
Feel much fondness, which, of course
Did not sit well with his horse.

But Sue told Bill, "I'm a big risk-taker--
And I want to ride your Widow Maker.
She mounted, in her big hoop skirt
And though she was a real expert

The hoop coils made her bounce up high,
Sue finally shot up in the sky
Never to be seen again
Which made old Widow Maker grin!
