The Falling Rain

by poetwatch

I do not have the words that say
that there's a rainbow in my sky.
The clouds shall cover me this day
in total dark, where I may die.

Yet, I wish to see angels smile
and feel the warmth of heaven's bliss,
but my soul is being beguiled
by a dark shadow's ugly hiss.

The feeling of impending doom
is what that shadow brings to me.
I feel the thunder shake the room
and see my friends fall off the tree.

The leaves are silent in their fears,
their screams were answering the call.
A constant flow of forlorn tears
is what I get for walking tall.

The mud was mixed in moon of madness
with blood of many dying friend.
A killing frenzy damned in darkness,
in rain we fought without an end.

Awake, in fighting fury, scream
the tears that tear my soul apart.
My friends then smile within my dream
as thunder rocks my mind and heart.

In Their Memory writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem, any type, about the members of the military present and past.

There are many soldiers that relive, within their minds, the things that happened during their tour of duty. Some are able to endure the memories, some cannot.
Flashbacks are a constant dream that they have to deal with, many times alone. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or P.T.S.D is often ignored. If you know of a soldier in need of help tried to get them to ask, because many suffer alone.

Thank you Jack Moore, for the memory.
