A lonely poem

forever young

by judester

She sits alone, surrounded
by memories of her past.
Photos of a dancing girl
sunlit, by days long past.

Waiting by the window
with her tea, to warm the chill.
Watching birds eat crumbs of bread,
scattered on the sill.

She calls out to her mother,
to come and brush her hair.
Impatient, she yells louder,
for her mum, no longer there.

She sighs, confused and worried,
adjusts her old afghan.
In her mind, she's still a girl,
that waits for her young man.
