rainbow poem

Stormy Bank

by LIJ Red

Its arc across the mists shall ride
when God puts off his frown.
He put His bow of war aside
when Noah's flood went down.

This rainbow bridge to other shore
we'll walk, they say, at last,
When flesh can't hold us anymore
and mortal pains have passed.

This thing I've been, the life I've led,
I fear that judgement bar.
I shake at night in awful dread
of trumpets from afar.

If I could but a ladder make
to lug along with me
a diff'rent route then I would take
back to the dirt, and flee!
