A Sonnet

The April Daffodil

by Dolly'sPoems

The yellow bonnet of the daffodil,
brings Easter memories in rich displays.
We view the garden from our windowsill,
the early April sunny spring filled rays.

On April seventh when our child was born,
another life had joined our family.
The daffodil’s soft petalled trumpet horn,
has strength to fight the freeze quite happily.

But death can coldly dim the yellow hue,
as April came to haunt our happy home,
as time ran out that day, we now miss you,
the daffodils you planted stand alone.

As spring fulfils its promise to bring life,
we say goodbye to one who gave us light.
