A Nove Otto Poem for Potlatch Poetry

That Special Tooth

by damommy

He pecked to freedom from the shell,
and saw the world where he would dwell.
What’s that beneath his tiny nose?
An egg tooth, looking slightly pearled.
With that, he broke out to the world.
So self-sufficient, there he goes.
His instinct tells him what to do
to find his food, and shelter, too.
I must protect him ‘til he grows.
