The Cross

I won't forget the cross you bore,
The pain, the shame, the blood, the gore.
You could have left it all behind,
And lost would be all of mankind.

The wooden cross was a heavy load,
Carried on your back, through the streets you towed.
On your way to be crucified,
Punctured through your hands, feet and side.

The crown of thorns ripped through your brow,
You made it on your way somehow.
For the love that is within your heart,
Made you persevere and not depart.

You made a choice that you would stay,
Because there was no other way.
You would fulfill your Father's will,
And swallow a very difficult pill.

The price was great but it's been paid,
We need to receive you today.
Heaven will then be our home,
Our souls need no longer roam.

Eternally I'll be with you,
My friend for life, I know it's true.
Use me as your vessel upon this earth,
The plan that you've had since my day of birth.

As we head into the resurrection season, there is no greater time to acknowledge all that He has done for us, by our one and only savior Jesus Christ. As you partake in holy communion, whether bread and wine, a cracker and grape juice, a potato chip and soda pop, it matters not the element but take it with a repentant pure heart in remembrance of Him.
