a beloved poet friend passed today
Sad Announcement
by Dawn Munro
My heart is heavy. I don't have the words tonight; I'm sorry. So I am sharing the titles of poems I once wrote for her in remembrance of a friend who passed away today. Both poems are here, inside my portfolio. For those of you who never knew her, they might give you some understanding of the generous soul she was...
RIP Brooke Baldwin. Like the seeds of the dandelion you so loved, you have sown your memory in many hearts. Your friends will miss you terribly. We will pray God comforts your family.

written for her birthday
The announcement by her daughter, Miranda:
Today, I lost my best friend. Mom flowed with words. It's what she did. My favorite poet. I'm not going to attempt to be as eloquent as she. I will let her speak for herself.
If I Must Die by Brooke Baldwin
If I must die
(and we all must die),
let it be as children play,
as life goes on outside my door
at the break of a brand new day.
If I must die
(and we all must die),
let it be in morning's glow,
surrounded by the sweet embrace
of all I've come to know.
If I must die
(and we all must die),
let it be without regret,
because I have given freely
to each person I have met.
If I must die
(and we all must die),
let me joyfully exclaim,
I've lived my life as best I could,
may my memory remain.
