A Child Crying

by poetwatch

I hear a child crying
as bombs rock its bed.
Mom is next to him, dying,
and dad has a bullet in his head.

People are everywhere yelling,
praying, trying to run away.
The birds just keep on dropping;
there will be no mercy this day.

Kill your neighbor! See him bleed!
Yells the beast with a laugh
as he plants this evil seed,
the child is cut in half.

Where is the wisdom in this obscenity?
What has happened to those of heart?
Is it burning in the depths of obscurity
As children are torn apart?

Who in this world will be who suffers,
those that live or those that are dying?
This world's tears smell of sulfur!
In its cradle I hear a child crying.

Bombs do not discriminate they kill men, women, and children. It has always been so. Yet, why must there be war?
