Will I make it?
The Lone Survivor
by Sally Law
"God help me!"
The midday sun was beating down upon my burning flesh.
Blood-soaked with a broken leg, I crawled to a tree offering shade.
Propping myself up, I assessed my wounds. I removed my flight jacket, placing it underneath me.
All provisions went down with the plane.
The lone survivor-- my co-pilot, gone. My aircraft-- a crumpled, smoldering heap.
No food, no water...nothing.
Birds of prey are circling me...waiting for death. More vultures come, flocking to divide the spoil. They mock me with their sounds.
The presence of angels draw near.
"Cut! Okay people--that's a wrap!"
