Hug and Release

I can surround you with my arms
in love and support
but I cannot sustain
that enclosure...
We each have lives to lead
ways to grow
much to learn and share
with the bigger world
that is blessed to have you in it.

So fly well
my amazing child
and I will send you hugs
in my thoughts and dreams
long after we have embraced
and given and received
the warmth and depth
of our love
in our goodbye.
