Bad Fruit

by nomi338

The problem was not with the fruit of the tree
It was with the pair on the ground
The devil went searching and quickly found
Two fools who willingly played the game
They accepted his lie and put truth to shame

So, from the garden they were expelled
God's righteous standards were thus upheld
The curse of sin was therefore injected
Adam's offspring were born infected

No longer perfect, that pair began to die
This death sentence passed to you and I
A promise was made, man would see paradise
Affirmed at the time of Jesus' sacrifice

Restored to heavenly life, he now reigns from above
The world is blessed by the extension of his love
Yet many proudly refuse to change or adjust their ways
But death is still the wage that sin pays

I did not strictly adhere to uniform syllable count, so I am prepared to accept the dings I am sure I will receive. I was much more concerned with the message.
I thank Cammy Cards for the wonderful artwork Swan Song.
