A Modern Connection to God's Son

by A. Willow Bends

I

Heartily and
Earnestly
Applauded for joy Ms. Miranda Lambert who
Reached
Deeply

Just so all could begin again to relate
Elated not to be left out in the
Secular world alone
Understandably we all have the tones of God within our
Souls

Digging our way out
Requires faith
Anchoring our beliefs in
Not as yet proven facts
Knowing we must make pacts within spirituality

Within ourselves
I
Never dreamed
Eternity existed

I persisted in the

Belief that life
Ended in
The here and now

How then to
Explain the despairing
Deals I've made with God

Undeniably He
Negated my fear
Dealt with my tears
Encouraged me through years of
Rough
Situations
Talk to Me, said He
And I did
Never not ever
Did I expect

A

Heartfelt reply
Ever was I hopeful though
And He delivered
Reality set in
Taking me for a spin, the ride of my

Life
I
Know now
Eternity exists

My faith persists
I will no longer
Negate the gates of possibility cannot open
Ever again

Writing Prompt
Write an Acrostic Poem, with or without rhymes, on or about God in 22 or more lines.

A "hats off" to Miranda Lambert's song, which I love! I think the title is, I HOPE: A Heart Like Mine. I swear when I first heard it, she had written it about my life. Everything from the smoking to the tattoo to the wine drinking. Thank you Miranda. And to the artist pictured above, the song makes mention of how the water was turned into wine. What a great choice I had to pick from! LOVE IT!

Just to clarify the acrostic: I heard Jesus drank wine. I bet he'd understand a heart like mine.
