A poem about how if you don't wise up the caverns await.

The Soul That Had No Name

by TheStoryMan

I tried bargaining with the demons
that dance inside my brain
but they were too busy screaming
and much too wild to tame -

So they took me to a graveyard
in a cold and pouring rain
and left me in a lonely tomb
with a soul that had no name.

I knew that I was victimized
yes I knew that I'd been played
when he opened up the gates of hell
to a place where hatred stayed.

Searching through the darkness
sensing the echoes underground
listening for the whispers
just beckoning to be found.

Awakening a sleeping dragon
from an ancient time of old
showing a place where hatred bred
of caverns filled with gold.

The dragon spoke directly
yet the dragon spoke so true
he said to listen closely
for these words are meant for you.

These walls are lined in gold you see
as far as the earth is wide
but to search within your heart you see
is to know your worth inside.

Fortune, greed, and wealth you see
will take you for joyful ride
but will leave you lost and all alone
in this place where the demons died

The dragon's voice then faded fast
as I stood in the pouring rain
so wet so cold and all alone
and with a soul that had no name .

This poem was written from the painting - you could just picture Satan taking in the souls who were all about greed and power.
