Aunt Amelia's Den

by Debbie Pope

I love my Aunt Amelia's den.
There're roses on the wall.
The nicest place I've ever been,
At least that I recall.

I'm chatelaine of the estate,
In Aunt Amelia's den.
I pass around the off'ring plate,
And meet the bus'nessmen.

"They've come for fun" my Auntie claims,
But first I pour some tea.
And then they rush to play their games,
With just a smile for me.

My mommy tells me not to go.
Sometimes I get the yen.
I hope perhaps to find a beau,
And head out once again.

I know I'll meet my Romeo,
With all those men around.
"Bordello, what? You just don't know."
To auntie's den I'm bound.
