Rhyming Block

by Roxanna Andrews

Sadly, I cannot think of a thing,
In my mind no rhyme doth ring.

Writer's block has come to stay.
Shall I do a fast and pray?

Usually rhymes go 'round in my head,
Until on paper they must be said!

But alas, no such thing comes to me now,
I may as well be a horse at the plow.

I look to the sky!
Shake my bent head and cry, "Why, why, why"?!

Why has the calamity fallen upon me?
I'm desperate down here, can't you see?

But alas and alack,
Do you think it might one day come back?

Perhaps on a day when I least expect,
A little rhyme, in my mind, I will detect.

And I'll write a poem, for you all to read.
I know you are praying, wishing godspeed.

I know you miss my fun little rhymes,
Do you remember all those good times?

When my poems made you laugh or cry,
Oh well... Mine is not to reason why.

Mine is to just sit and wait.
Perhaps at some far off, future date,

I shall rhyme again!
And hallelujah! Life, once more, can begin.

I believe miracles do happen.

I haven't been in the mood to write, review, make cards, go to work, breath. Not that bad, but not feeling at all creative. I'm hoping this too shall pass. I'm going to try a laxative if it doesn't. =}
