A Texting Breakup

by Connie C

Sue didn't love him anymore
and wondered how to break the news.
She couldn't just walk out the door.
The right words she would have to choose.

With him at work, she packed her clothes
and walked away with heavy heart.
That night she texted him with prose
to let him know that they must part.

He called--no answer did he get.
Then texted with, "How can this be?"
He got a text right back, and yet
all hope was gone. Sue, now, was free.

At last, the weeks and months flew by
until he finally could see,
with all his texts and no reply,
she had moved on and so must he.

In time, he met somebody new
and it was on his wedding day
his phone's abuzz--a text from Sue.
He smiled and put his phone away.

It does seem in today's society that it's so easy for some to end a relationship through a text or email and avoid the face-to-face confrontation. I know it happened to me when my personal trainer, whom I considered a friend as well, dropped me in a text. I'm glad now that she did since I have a much better trainer!
