Short essay on mobiles.

Mobiles Phones and WW2.

by tempeste

One day my grandson came to me
he had not yet reached his teens.
His bright eyes were full of glee
while I perched him steady on my knee.
As I sipped my afternoon tea
he turned his head and questioned me.
"Grandpa when you were stuck
in those air raid shelters as a tyke
did your mobile phone still work
or did it go on "strike" ?
My prompt reply surprised him greatly.
"Sonny boy ", I said, " mobiles in my days
had not even been invented yet ! "

The Phenomenon of Cell Phones contest entry

Kids grow up using mobiles already at a tender age ..and they just take for granted that they always exsisted, hence as they grow up they wonder if a mobile would have had coverage (due to the metres of earth, stone, concrete and steel) in a bunker / air raid shelter during the WW2...obviously it does not dawn on them that in those days there were no mobiles.
