I Want To Be At The Head Of The Line

by Barb Hensongispsaca

I want to be the first in line to see the wondrous sights -
to witness all the well-earned gifts 'neath Heaven's glorious lights.
I want to watch God's followers receive their promised birth
and see what they have waited for through turmoil while on Earth.

I want to be the first in line to watch the blind man see,
the lame will walk, the twisted limbs will be straight as can be.
The mute will speak, the deaf will hear, their lives forever changed.
I want to watch the broken have their parts all rearranged.

I want to see the ones in pain that are a lot like me,
experience a freedom that we thought we'd never see.
The wheelchair bound that never felt the ground beneath their feet
will run among the flowers, as, the dirt, their toes will meet.

The children that have never seen the light of nature's day
will finally smell the flowers and then know that they're okay.
The burned that wear protective 'skin' will cast it all aside;
the missing ones will find their fam'lies on the other side.

I want to see the babies that mankind deprived of life
and hear their glor'ius laughter 'twas cut short by pride's sharp knife.
I want to pet the lion and the tiger and the bear,
as I lay down in Paradise with all God's creatures there.

I have a room reserved for me, it's promised by the King,
my voice, once lost, will then be found, 'cause all I'll do is sing.
I want to be the first in line to join my family
and always feel eternal love while living perfectly.
