Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
Alone in the company of none

Solitary

by Jonadab Ezerie

The simple things that mattered to me
It was too much for me to give
I have given too much of myself
And I keep getting less and less of it back

So, I gazed over the essence of the rainbow
The vibrant life that lies in the sky
Colors I adore opened my vision
To the distance between myself and love

Alone I wish not to be
Cold and lifeless like the dark side of the moon
Somehow feels as isolated as me
My thoughts follow me
In the company of none but my shadow
I find I am never misunderstood
I find no fault in myself

In moments of silence, I always ask
Which is louder, my thoughts or my heartbeat
When I try to run, but how can I run from my shadow
I try hard to smile and laugh
But fall short of stopping to breathe
Solitary is not all I want to know,
But it seems it's what I know best
