Teenagers Today

by Y. M. Roger

                  Telegraphed tragedy transforms teens,
turns their tensions to turbulent trials –
                  Tightly tangled thoughts tear tearfully,
‘til their tortuous thirst turns tactile…

                  Thoughtless trolls totaling thousands
                    transmit tempestuous tripe –
                  Trivial talk tantamount to trash
                    traverses their typical type…

                  Torchbearers to timeless tomorrows,
                    they traverse tumultuous trails –
                  Trivialized through toxic Tweeting,
                    theater transforms truth’s trademark tale.

Technological advances are wonderful things. But, in this technological age, today's teenagers are constantly bombarded with so much propaganda about the world ending soon because of so many different reasons...most for which they are made to feel responsible. In addition, they are besieged and belittled by 'trolls' in the 'Twitter-verse' and Facebook that attack not only their physical appearance but their core beliefs. It is not an excuse, but it does explain why so many of them strike out in anger and frustration. In a way, they are simply wanting 'touch' that is positive and reinforcing... and they will do just about anything to get it. Please remember this crazy "T-write" the next time you think to go out of your way to avoid or dismiss them! ;) :)
