North Pole - At it Again

by Jaye Bennett

Thoughts gleaned from reading Imanual Velokovsky

The Russian found while researching his field,
History was like an onion, waiting to be peeled.
Earth's magnetic field he ventured forth,
Changed poles north to south, then back to north.
He said outer space gave us Venus so fair,
Ancient writings told us it wasn't always there.
Modern science has found his alternate sight,
In most instances has been proven right.
That now the sun rises east and sets west
Doesn't mean it can't be put to the test.

Now we move to thoughts from the present

It seems our magnetic north pole
is at it once again.
Instead of remaining in its place,
it has a brand-new plan.
It isn't staying where all of us
will know its area,
it is now scurrying on its way
headed for Siberia.

Many thanks to VMarguarite for her picture Riding On A Snowsled. Fabulous picture.
I read a lot, and I learn the most interesting things. Imanual Velokovsky wrote the book Worlds in Collision. About 1948, when it was going to be published, history professors threatened the publisher by saying they would blackball them by not buying their textbooks. The publishers couldn't deal with that, so they back out of the deal. Several decades later, I read an article saying time had proved Velokovsky right time after time. Oops! Just this month, January 2019, I saw a science article stating the north pole had be slowly migrating. In fact, they were planning to update the GPS database in 2020, as it uses the north pole as a reference, and the movement of the pole was messing up GPS searches. Then the pole got a notion to skedaddle for Siberia fast enough they changed the plans and are going to do the update as soon as possible. Modern science is truly amazing, but not as amazing as the north pole. I wonder what would happen if the poles would switch again. I'd just as soon not know. I listed this poem as Humor simply because Science wasn't an option.
