A Duodecatain Poem

A chapter in the book Love Love Love

Moments To Remember

by jmshumate

I mind her eyes they sparkle gold,
Could she and I one day grow old?
Cross the table stretch forth my hand,
Eyes still coupled by love's command.
I felt her palm,
Her soft respond,
A broken calm,
Hear my heart pound?
Still, nor she or I made a sound,
The world stilled round us--our own realm.

Walking her slowly to her car,
Feelings came over so bizarre,
My heart sank as she drove away,
The time was now, right now--today!
Brakes screeched to halt,
Standing like stone,
Full of exult,
Growing backbone,
From hood to door--setting the tone,
"Take not this kiss with grain of salt!"

Hands in soft hair,
Life started there.
