Foreboding

It was midnight.

I walked the silent, dimly lit halls again for the third time, my nightly routine.

Outside, a howling, rainy night tried to bluff its way into the old brick building.



Somehow, I knew, after ten years on the job, this night would be strangely different.

It wasn't.
