I light my candle
his shadow appears
on my wall
the scaly lizard
faces me,
he bows in greeting
I smile

my friend arrives
when the flame is lit
we chat til dawn
he brings me solace
in my world of stress

he emits small sparks
advises me to relax
dragons of the fire
listen well to weary humans

the sun arises
as his shadow fades
but he will see me
when the next candle
is lit
