Lady Melissa threw her needlepoint on the floor.
Her aged father, Lord Ailesbury watched, aghast.
"Have you taken leave of your senses, Melissa?"
"No, papa, I plan to marry my beloved John Smith, a commoner."
Lord Ailesbury gasped loudly, clenching his chest.
"Love is for nitwits," he muttered, before expiring.
