Without Your Love

by Kathleen Washnis

Without your love,
I'm like a fish out of water,
Trying to survive on the land.

Without your love,
I'm like a bird without wings,
Who has a voice but won't sing.

Nothings greater than your love,
The opposite would be fear.
I would rather have you and nothing else,
Then to have everything without you near.

Without your love,
I am like an unmade apple pie,
Minus the filling to give it taste.
I may look good from the outside,
But inside empty, a void, waste.

You may have great wealth and prestige,
Or much knowledge with many degrees.
Perhaps you have a talent or great beauty,
You flaunt what you have like it is your duty.

But even though you may seem quite blessed,
When push comes to shove, you're put to the test.
Without His love to see you through,
You're poor, ignorant, ugly, yes that's the real you.

Without your love,
Just send me packing.
I don't want to stay here,
My life is lacking.

But with your love,
I'm filled with joy, peace.
Nothing is lacking,
I'll stay and renew my lease.
