A weathered man

by judester

Reluctantly she passes
her new born son to them.
In tears, she whispers final thoughts,
tugs at the quilted hem.

He does not remember,
her pain, how could he know?
His life lived like a tempest,
strong winds nowhere to blow.

Life and time, will not fade
this love and she still can
see the little boy she lost,
within this weathered man.
