Colours Above My Head

by Heather Knight

As I lie here,
On my deathbed,
Colours float
Above my head.

Don't pity me,
Don't shed those tears.
I already see
My loved one's face.

My eyes close
And my mind goes back
To that day
Below the trees.

We were young,
We were lovestruck
And he carried me
In his arms.

He promised
We would always be together.
He whispered
Sweet words in my ear.

But Fate was cruel,
He stole my man.
I've been alone
For countless years.

So, you see,
I'm happy now.
The Grim Reaper
I don't fear.

He can't take anything away.
All the damage has been done.
He will do me a final favour
And carry me to my love.
