Unexpected Bliss

Basement party, the end of school
It happen at a time so long ago
I was shy, afraid to be uncool
Special person I wanted to know

Pretty girl with a heart-shaped face
Pony-tail that swished behind
Fantasized getting to first base
Savoring her lips of cherry, sweet wine

Dreaming how her kiss would taste
Waited awhile then asked her to dance
Careful not wanting to act with too much haste
She said yes, so pleased that I took a chance

Feeling giddy, my knees a bit weak
Music began, she pulled me in close
We danced slowly, cheek to cheek
Thinking, steady now, don’t go comatose

She leaned back, said, "I’ve been waiting
Kiss me please," she sweetly said
Her words sent my heart pulsating
My entire body flushing hot red

She pushed her mouth against mine
I got drunk on her cherry wine kiss
Our hearts becoming softly entwined
Oh, the rising of unexpected bliss
