I am engulfed with phobia.

by A. Willow Bends

fear of the dark, snakes, spiders, rodents
being alone in old age, homeless
falling from high heights
water over my head, relentless waves knocking me asunder
freezing to a numbing nothingness
engulfed in flames, my life breath stolen
buried alive, uselessly scratching
smothered, compressed by masses of humanity
walls without doors or windows
locked in
damp cellars, cobwebs brushing my face
going up steps and hands grabbing my ankles
ALL of which pull me down . . . downward and grasping
ALL phobias

Phobias writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a 10-15 line free verse poem about a phobia you may have. We all have something that very much frightens us. No rhyming patterns.

I could not even decide which would be the worst of the worst. Phobias they claim can be overcome, but where would I even begin?
Thank you for reading.

THANK YOU to Renate-Bertodi for the perfect art depiction of how I would deal with terror in the night. Curling into myself is how I would deal with fear.
