I am a Bowling Pin!

by A. Willow Bends

it's taken many years to do
to self-describe me head to toe
compared to others tall or thin
I think I am a bowling pin
shapely somewhat
beauty-not much
rather plain or dull
sometimes I can get rattled
by a wrecking (bowling?) ball
but I rock from side to side
and very seldom fall

I stand firm quite often
when chaos may surround me
I hold tight when others
seem to fall around me
Never actually nailed it down
but with this thought I win
I really do resemble a
worn down bowling pin

so give it your best shot
I'll hold tight upon this lane
try to knock me for a loop
go ahead I've dealt with pain
glamorous, I'm simply not
with a bottom rather stout
you may try your hardest
but you'll never knock me out
