It was the crime before Christmas
And all through my lab,
Not a creature was present,
Not a cookie was had.

The cold case reopened,
And stacked files all with care,
Hoped that I, the Medical Examiner,
Would soon bring repair.

With my satchel beside me,
Really needing a nap,
I hastened for home,
To husband and wrap.

The night air was chilly
Hoarfrost was quickly forming,
My hands were trembling
As my thoughts were still soaring.

"Who could have done this?"
I said, as I fought
A man was brutally killed,
His head forever sought.

When what to
My tired eyes did appear,
BOO ghost on the front door,
His image quite clear.

I squinted, and gasped.
Heard his lamenting sounds,
I looked and I saw,
No one else was around.

He said I was needed,
And missing his head,
Foul play was suspected
A Fanstorian, he said.

My mobile crime lab was readied,
On the wings of justice I flew,
BOO ghost was beside me
To the crime scene, we two.

I took out my lab kit
And as quick as a wink,
I gathered the evidence,
Every bit...in a blink.

A whodunnit of epic proportions,
As the day gave way,
Who committed this heinous crime--
It was too early to say.

A cold case no more,
For the district D.A.,
If I did my job,
There would be no further delay.

BOO ghost and I,
With my forensics lab,
We'd catch the mad killer,
They would surely be had.

I finished my coffee,
My fifth cup for the day,
I reassured BOO ghost,
And sent him away.

"Don't worry," I said,
As he flew from my sight,
"I will find your killer, dear BOO,
And bring justice to light!"
